Re: [csswg-drafts] [css-color] Extend semantics of color adjusters “saturation” and “lightness”?

Chris,

I believe there is no formal correlate of "saturation" defined in Lab, and CIE does not formally recommend the equation "S = C/L" to be used in Lab colors, isn't that correct?

Having said that, I agree that, for all practical purposes, "S = C/L" will work for a Lab color, my point is theoretical only: is it ok for the spec to use a definition of "saturation" that is not formally defined? I proposed CIELuv because it would take care of that ("S = C/L" is used as a correlate of saturation in Luv), but yes, adding yet another perceptually linear color space is not mandatory to support perceptually linear color adjusters.
