Hello, I would like to shortly introduce myself :) First of all my apologies for all the possible stress caused by me attempt to 'bridge' conversation on digital signatures with Social WG. I thought it may come helpful to stay aware about relevant work done in both groups as well as current people's positions on this topic. I really didn't expect that conversation about it might become so intense. I followed developments in Web Payments CG for a quite a while, mostly with interest of leveraging it for alternative currencies, especially non monetary variants. I even created Web Currencies CG but sadly didn't find enough time to dedicate to it (at least yet!) http://www.w3.org/community/webcurrencies/wiki/Main_Page I also follow with excitement development of Open Badges. Even more now, seeing convergence with work on credentials and finding more appreciation for Linked Data. While ago happened to ask about "Open Badges and Linked Data?" in google group [1]. Few networks I know about planning to adopt Open Badges, and I hope to offer them my support to the extent of my capacity: * Open Knowledge Foundation https://trello.com/c/LvcBmpiN/6-badges-okfn-org * NodeSchool https://github.com/nodeschool/discussions/issues/410 * OuiShare https://github.com/OuiShare/OuiShare/issues/27 * Open Tech School http://www.opentechschool.org/ * etc. https://twitter.com/elfpavlik/status/508965439746355200 One of the main issues, which I consider a show stopper, relates to capacity of hosting one's own backpack and others having means to discover it. I created long time ago issue on github "[federation] Discovery of backpack location", sadly closed without clear resolution. I can also recall suggesting Open Badges during conversation on G+, which Manu later captured in github issue[3]. All those links hopefully confirm that I really care about this topic, event that I couldn't offer any tangible contributions. BTW since I live stateless and choose not to accept and use any state IDs, it gives me very strong, 'scratch your own itch', use case for strong Open Credentials. I hope to start joining regularly CG weekly teleconferences and do my best to catch up with all the work done here so far. Really looking forward to that! Last but not least, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the hard work all of you put into development of such very needed open technologies. Thank you!
