Intent to merge PR #95 on April 24

Good morning/evening,

Per our earlier call, the following PR will be merged on April 24 COB
unless significant objections are raised:

Attached is a PDF snapshot of the minimal HDR Canvas strawman,
including modifications made following the call.

The next steps will be to:

(a) continue refining the strawman, including addressing open issues
(b) distribute the strawman to other groups and organizations for feedback
(c) solicit prototype implementations
