RE: Meeting minutes for: The Cognitive Accessibility Task Force Teleconference -Thursday 20th December , 2018

Happy New Year everyone!

As proposed in the last call, I have drafted some wording for the gap analysis to explain how the difficulties for COGA are persistent although may also be experienced by the general population to some extent. To do this I have redrafted section 1.12 People with Cognitive and Learning Disabilities and the Web in a Google doc:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1StcdCLBUebaSWF7f4DfJtqliQisKyC_5OoNAxqxOc0I/edit?usp=sharing

As I also couldn’t find any text describing what cognitive and leading disabilities referred to, I also included a paragraph outlining that. I have used the terminology from the European standard on Design For All (EN 17161). However, the ETSI Guidelines on designing mobile devices for people with cognitive disabilities provides a useful definition of cognitive disability and impairment - https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_eg/203300_203399/203350/01.01.01_60/eg_203350v010101p.pdf. Perhaps referring to this would useful as it would assist with alignment between guidelines so that readers understand how they fit together.

Hopefully you should be able to add comments to the document but if you have problems accessing it please let me know.

Best wishes

Abi

Hi Folks

On tomorrow's call I would like to continue the discussion on changes to the gap analysis <https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2FTR%2Fcoga-gap-analysis%2F&data=01%7C01%7Ca.james%40soton.ac.uk%7C9bed7a595b274bb8f00e08d6718f9c6a%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=dhq6iu5LpfzvBqtBlL9MHAFGnPfwUSCjbUwOqcmn7w4%3D&reserved=0>
So far we have a proposals for more complete user stories, explain the difference between usability and accessibility, and moving the issue paper summary to the appendix. However I suspect the tables are not very readable.

We also have some updates for the face to face and moving forward with the design guided and terms.

Let me know if you would like me to add anything else to the agenda.
