I wasn't able to get the SMF playback to work at all (kept getting "error
reading file: [object ProgressEvent]"...

But I was able to get the real-time MIDI I/O to work, except for the timing
being 'sluggish'...

Subject: MIDI proposal implemented

Hey there group!

I just found out that the proposal I made some time ago (and in which I
believe me and Chris Wilson will be somewhat basing our spec), has (for most
parts) been implemented using Java: https://github.com/abudaan/MIDIBridge

So, we have an experimental implementation already! We should probably
start drafting a spec soon, too. :)

Cheers,
Jussi
