Yes, I think it's a good idea. Defaults are good.
Maybe there should also be a default index file (what's now specified in  
the content element). Like "index.html" and "text/html". (I don't know why  
this was removed, I seem to remember that they were there in earlier  
versions of the spec.)

On a slightly related note, maybe the name element should be obligatory,  
so that widgets don't end up without a name.
