Re: HTML Accessibility Review

Hi Léonie, Xiaoqian, (APA,)

Adding you to this update thread on the HTML accessibility review (you don't need to read the previous messages; I will reply with an update again soon).

I have gone through the identified PRs plus an additional commit that was related, as well as 318 other commits, to check for potential accessibility issues. I still have 41 of the "other" commits to filter as either unrelated or important, and I am hoping to get through at least the vast majority of those tomorrow (which is the deadline for my action, so apologies for the delay).

I didn't find any concerns in the identified PRs, which is great, though we do have potential concerns about some of the other commits. I am keeping notes on all of the commits, and will share them all soon, but the notes related to the identified PRs are separate [0].

On the APA call we just held, we have identified that to fully understand some of the remaining 41 commits, we'll need to contact certain people, and some of the APA members are working on that already. When the filtering is complete I'm sure there will be significantly fewer than 41 about which we have concerns - I'll reply on this thread with a status update once I've got that definitive list of commits, so we can then highlight them to you and start to liaise with the right people about them.

There are a few take-aways I'd like to share with you all regarding this process, some aspects have been really helpful and there are some that can be, but I'd like to help improve their accessibility. However I'll post about all that when it's done :-).

We'll need to discuss matters arising from the review in upcoming APA calls and will contribute back as soon as we can. Again, though, I'll get back to you with our concerns flagged very shortly, and we look forward to working with everyone to understand them, and resolve any as needed.

best regards,

Matthew
