Re: Agenda: APA WEEKLY Teleconference; Wednesday 23 October at 1600Z

Hi Janina, all,

Sorry to say I can't make today's meeting - I have a client engagement that I can't move. As two reviews are due imminently/soon, I have some progress updates for you, and some questions across both of the reviews in which I am currently involved. I'd be grateful if you could consider them...

1. Re the review, with Josh, of WebXR Gamepads Module Level 1: I gathered from our call last week that the due date for this was not urgent, and understood it to be /after/ the HTML review, though the action's due date is today - is there a chance of bumping this by a couple of weeks without detriment? I'd really like to do some proper research on it, but will only have time after this week (and next, ideally) - sorry for not raising this earlier. (As it happens, I was at the Game Accessibility Conference, GAConf, on Monday, which was an awesome event and it was great to meet people, one of whom was in fact Josh :-). I hope to re-meet Josh and meet more of you in the not-too-distant future; I'll be at CSUN 2020, but that's not important right now...)

2. Re the HTML review: I have been concentrating on the commits that embody the identified PRs with an accessibility label [0]. For all commits reviewed, I've checked the associated PR conversation and linked bugs. I have the following updates and questions:

  a. So far I've reviewed 3 of the 6 identified PRs with an accessibility label and attached the notes I've taken to this email as an HTML file (review-notes-for-PRs.html). Please could you let me know if this matches your expectations re level of detail (I can formalise the wording for delivery in some way, however needed)? So far I have not found anything of concern, so have not reported any issues on the HTML repo.

  b. The three substantive PRs I have left are quite complex, and I may need to consult with the rest of the group on some aspects - what's the best way to do this: just mail the list as usual?

  c. I have started on and reviewed 25 of the other commits, and have 335 to go (results so far are attached as review-notes-for-other-commits.html). Most are taking just 1 minute to discount as not accessibility-specific. Some haven taken a couple of minutes and a few have taken 5 minutes to fully check out. From skimming through the git log, most seem like they'll be not applicable, so we are talking between 5 and 10 hours' work, most likely towards the lower end of that. I can fit this in, but if any of you have the cycles and are able to take a portion of these, please let me know. I can provide a list of commits, which will work with the review scripts I wrote to help ease the process [1] - though using those scripts would be entirely optional. I aim to complete the review by early next week so I can send the results to the list for a check before our call.

best regards,

Matthew
