Quick intro

Hi,

I’m Dan Whaley, the president and founder of Hypothes.is, a non-profit software company based in San Francisco, dedicated to bringing annotation to the world’s knowledge.

Our organization has developed a general purpose web annotator and also contributes with others to the AnnotatorJS project, which two on our team (Nick Stenning and Aron Carroll) were the creators of.

I discovered the Open Annotation Collaboration after spending some time investigating previous projects that had tried to bring annotation to the web in one form or another.  It was the realization that there was finally hope for an open, interoperable standard that attracted me, and the excellent leadership of those within it that has kept me engaged.

We’re grateful for the hard work that Rob, Paolo, Herbert, Doug, Ivan, Tim Cole and many others have put in and look forward to working with all of you to move annotations forward.
