Introduction of Raphael Troncy, EURECOM

Dear all,

Apologies, I will not be able to make tomorrow's call but I will
definitively try to make the next ones and I will also attend TPAC later
this year.

I'm Raphaël Troncy [1], an associate professor in EURECOM (Sophia
Antipolis, south east of France) part of Institut Mines Telecom where I
lead a small research team on Multimedia Semantics and Interaction [2].
I'm also the AC Rep for the Institut Telecom member. I'm working with
semantic web technologies since nearly 15 years. I have designed a
number of vocabularies / ontologies, as well as produced datasets in the
Linked Open Data cloud.

I'm familiar with W3C practices, having co-chair the Multimedia
Semantics Incubator Group [3] and the Media Fragments Working Group [4].
I have also been involved in many other working and community groups
(including the open-annotation CG).

Relevant to this group is the work we are doing in the context of the
LinkedTV project [5] where we semi-automatically annotate TV broadcasts
and enrich them with web content for developing synchronized second
screen companion applications. We massively use the open annotation
model for this task, e.g. when annotating subtitles with named entities
using NERD [6] or when converting into RDF legacy metadata coming from
broadcasters using a tool named TV2RDF [7]. I'm particularly interested
in the Robust Link Anchoring task force where I expect to push the usage
of media fragment URI for anchoring annotations to parts of media content.

I'm looking forward to work with all of you!

   Raphaël
