Access Learn update: Requirements Document, AHG and next steps

Hi all

A quick update, after some recent silence, an outline of expected future work of the Access Learn Community Group, and some requests for responses from group members.

We’ve been working to turn the recommendations for content edits and additions to the WAI web site into a more formal requirements document, as requested by W3C’s Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG). This requirements document, once approved, will form the basis of the next stage of the work—to write the content and incorporate it into relevant pages of the WAI site.

The draft requirements document is here:
https://github.com/w3c/wai-eo-online-learning/wiki/Requirements-Analysis

The material in the requirements document should be familiar, as it’s effectively what was in the Google doc we previously created together.

Request 1: If you have feedback on the document, please let us know by responding to this email. (We’ll ask EOWG if it’s possible to use Github’s commenting feature as an alternative means for feedback.)

Mary and I had planned to attend a meeting with members of EOWG during Accessing Higher Ground conference next week to discuss next steps for this work, but unfortunately other conference and work commitments respectively have meant that neither of us can now attend.

Request 2: If anyone in the AccessLearn CG is attending AHG and would like to talk to EOWG, please respond to this message, and we’ll try to facilitate arrangements.

To be clear, we’re now approaching the start of the phase of defining a process for authoring the content identified in the requirements document. AccessLearn members will have a major role to play in the authoring process, working closely with EOWG, so this is an opportunity for group members to contribute to the content creation phase.

Request 3: If you’d like to be involved in the authoring process, please let us know, and how you’d like to be involved.

Thanks, and best wishes
Dave and Mary
