Firefox and IE

It was announced about three months ago that Firefox 3 began to support a new file format, the animated PNG (APNG). While APNG images are becoming more popular, one of the main browsers (Internet Explorer) stands still and has no changes. 

I'm not an admirer of Firefox, IE is more preffered. But in this case Firefox seem to have more advantages. 

What do you think about the situation?
