more digest flap: warning

There's been some back and forth in private email about the
possibility that the digest authentication draft is actually flawed
enough that we should revise it before it goes to RFC, even though we
have managed to make it through our own 'last call' and so has the
IESG.

In order to do anything other than let the current draft proceed, the
IESG requires the working group to decide that it wants to halt
publication of the current draft in lieu of a new one.

In the interest of progress, we could just let the current draft
proceed and fix these things in the next round, but, on the other
hand, if there's general agreement that we made a mistake, we can, in
fact, fix it.

I'll let those who want to make proposed changes to the digest
authentication draft suggest them on the list, and hope that we can
arrive at our own conclusions quickly.

This is just a 'heads up' so that people might expect to respond
fairly quickly. I think most of the changes are editorial, but,
because of where we are in the process, we need clear direction from
YOU.

Thanks,

Larry
