There's a significant amount of work in the Internet Fax community on
"discovering recipient capabilities". Originally we were going to try to
do an ESMTP extension ("Capabilities") or a MDN extension (piggyback
on the confirmation), but are now leaning toward extending vcard &
email LDAP schemas to include server features. "charset" support seems
like it would be a good feature to be able to discover, or at least
to check off in your email directory, in the same way you can do now
with "can read HTML" and we'd like to see with "can accept color fax".
