Textarea tags, whitespace and indent

When I use tidy with indentation turned on I seem to get indentation applied 
to the contents of my textarea tags. Since whitespace is significant inside 
these tags, this is very much unwanted behaviour.

Is there a way to prevent this without turning off indentation alltogether?
