Validate empty tags

Hi,
   I am using HTML::Tidy to validate blocks of html. I need to get HTML::Tidy to get to warn
on encountering empty tags without a trailing slash (img,br,hr etc) like it does for a missing </span> as below

html/261.html (2:1) Warning: missing </span>

What am I missing here ?
