Help Using TIDY

I am fairly new at writing HTML and came across TIDY by surfing the net. I downloaded TIDY, but I am a little confused on how to make it work. Any 
help or suggestions would help. I tried to understand "How to Use TIDY", but was unable to make it work. Thanks a lot in advance. Tammie
