Hello Murray,

Tidy assumes the </B> to be a misspelt </I> and corrects it accordingly. 
The then obsolete </I> after AF gets dropped.

See the Tidy warning messages:
>Tidy (vers 4th August 2000) Parsing console input (stdin)

Removing the </B> or adding a <B> AFTER the <I> would solve your problem.
