Tidy and LINK element of RSS XML files

Greetings,

I am attempting to use Tidy on RSS files and it seems to have eat the LINK
elements.

The element:
<link>http://www.news.perl.org/</link>becomes:
<link />

Can anyone shed light on this behavior?
